Clashing Time went to the EAT Cambridge Food Festival

Clashing Time went to the EAT Cambridge Food Festival

Eat Cambridge is a food festival that comes around every year to celebrate the fantastic food and drink organisations we have in and around East Anglia. Eat Cambridge was founded in 2013 by three local food lovers and takes place for two weeks every May. They have provided us with such a fantastic range of events over the last few years and it just keeps getting better - hard to believe that the whole thing is organised and run entirely by volunteers! In the week running up to the launch of Eat Cambridge I had a lovely email from one of the organisers to see if I wanted to go along to the press launch of the 'Main Event' in order to check out the best, newest, and most exciting independent food and drink in the area before the general public. I've heard from previous years that this event gets very busy as all the eager foodies rush through the doors ready to buy all kinds of interesting and delicious food and drink, so I was lucky to be able to escape the crowds. I invited my gorgeous friend Sophie from Sophie Kate and we wandered around in awe of all of the incredible stalls. It was a lovely opportunity to get to know the people working so hard to make their products a success. We spoke to some truly inspirational individuals who demonstrated an incredible passion and knowledge for their products. Top stalls for me included the amazing Pinkster Gin, Canesmith & Co sweets and Edward's Cordial (especially as we got a sample of each). All of these products are sold at Burwash Manor in Barton and when I went along for a little family outing a few days later, I bought something from each of them. The whole Eat Cambridge event was an explosion of colourful food and drink and perfectly demonstrated Cambridgeshire's impressive independent food scene. I already can't wait for it to come back next year so I can find out about lots of new traders! Keep up to date: www.eat-cambridge.co.uk
