Madeira Christmas Lights

Madeira Christmas Lights

Now that Christmas is over, I think its about time that I told the truth! The materialistic Christmas that now overwhelms the western world has always been something that I've never been too keen on; however, life abroad seems to be a different matter. The week before Christmas, my mother and I traveled to the gorgeous Portuguese island of Madeira for five days for a bit of a break. In Madeira, Christmas seems more about family coming together, religion, beautiful lights and the general celebration of the real reason behind Christmas; which was a joy to be surrounded by. One evening, we decided to sit down and enjoy some white wine sangria and nibbles at The Ritz in the centre of Funchal, the city's capital. We watched the world go by, children and parents laughing and singing whilst Christmas carols played in the background, as we got a little bit merry. So, you lovely bloggers, that is my perfect way to celebrate Christmas. Family, happy festivities and the celebration of what Christmas should really be about!
