Clashing Time talks Alexander McQueen

Clashing Time talks Alexander McQueen

After months of trying, we finally got tickets to the Alexander McQueen exhibition at the V&A museum. The exhibition was on from the 14th March to the 2nd August and was fully booked from start to finish, meaning that they had to release 12,000 additional tickets for 24 hour sessions in the end of July and beginning of August. We were lucky enough to get tickets on the 26th July in an afternoon slot and we couldn't have been happier. Even though we were travelling from Cambridge for only a few hours in London, it was definitely well worth it. The exhibition itself, although a little bizarre at times, really demonstrated the incredible mind of Alexander McQueen. He had such an interest in exploring extremes and pushing the boundaries of normality. His clothes of course were not always wearable - until his collections with Givenchy - but they certainly had character. Each item, whether it was clothing, shoes or headwear, screamed passion and original design. The thing that really caught my attention was the incredible curation by Claire Wilcox as each room stood out more impressively than the last. As you will see by the image below, the most imaginative room displayed the vast majority of McQueen's most iconic items. I honestly sat down in the room for what must have been 30 minutes as I was caught in a daze of inspiration. Everywhere you looked there was something more interesting and the screens with videos of some of his catwalk shows really added to the dream-like world we were all in. Overall, it was a great exhibition and I really hope that as many people as possible were able to go see it and enjoyed it as much as I did. CTx
